Although varicose veins are a cosmetic problem, they can cause swelling, leg pain, permanent damage to the skin, open wounds and blood clots. For this reason, insurance companies do recognize varicose veins as a medical condition. Many times, varicose vein procedures will be deemed medically necessary to treat the symptoms associated with venous insufficiency and varicose veins. In the majority of these cases, the treatment is covered by the patient’s health insurance plan.
Our insurance specialists work closely with the health insurance companies with which we are contracted. Our patients do not have to be concerned with contacting their insurance company. Our staff contacts the patient’s health insurance company, provides the information necessary for the company to determine eligibility and coverage for the patient’s treatment. If necessary, pre-certification will be obtained at this time. Our insurance specialists are available to assist patients with all of their health insurance needs.
Shore Vascular and Vein Center is a participant in many of the major health insurance plans. Most health insurance plans do provide patients with an out-of-network treatment option so even if a patient has an insurance plan that we do not participate in, we may be able to treat him/her as an out-of-network provider.
