At Shore Vein and Vascular, experienced vein surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Gosin and his highly trained medical staff treat all types of vein problems and vascular disease. Patients who are bothered by the appearance of spider veins or varicose veins receive aesthetic vein treatment procedures to eliminate discolored or bulging veins. Individuals experiencing circulatory problems or pain in the lower legs from more serious varicose vein disease receive the latest vein diagnostics and treatments.
Dr. Gosin treats these vein problems, from mild to severe, using innovative and advanced methods that are minimally invasive. Most treatments can be performed at our state-of-the-art offices. Treatments are designed to minimize discomfort and downtime, allowing most patients to return to their normal schedule of activity the same or next day.
Previously known as VNUS Closure Procedure, this venous reflux treatment gets to the root of a common cause of varicose veins. The FDA approved, minimally invasive office procedure is typically completed in 30 minutes or less under local anesthesia. A slim catheter is passed via a needle stick into the vein, guided using ultrasound technology. RF (radiofrequency) energy is used to the collapse the abnormal, problem vein, re-routing blood circulation through healthy veins. This procedure minimizes or eliminates painful reflux and leg swelling due to blood backup in the lower legs. Patients can expect only slight discomfort and no stitches are needed. Recovery is swift and patients typically resume normal activity in 2 days or less.
Patients can usually resume their normal activities the next day with minimal discomfort. The healing process is completed over the next few weeks, during which time patients may experience mild tenderness, bruising, or tingling.
Spider veins can appear as a cluster or “web” of thin purple or red lines just below the skin’s surface on the face, legs, chest or other body areas. Spider veins are caused by a mild venous insufficiency. While they don’t typically threaten health, many people are disturbed by the unattractive appearance, sometimes occurring with itching and burning sensations on the skin and bleeding when shaving the legs.
Sclerotherapy is an excellent, non-invasive solution for spider vein problems, taking only about 15 minutes. During treatment at Shore Vascular and Vein Center, sclerosing agent is injected into the abnormal veins, collapsing them and fading their color over time. The latest sclerosing agents are free of the burning pain associated with saline that was often used in the past.
In just a few weeks, treated veins fade out, with repeat treatments sometimes necessary for complete disappearance. With patience and proper follow-up, improvement is typically remarkable. There is no downtime required before returning to usual activities after sclerotherapy treatments. Compression stockings and avoidance of direct sun is generally recommended following treatment.
Shore Vascular and Vein Center’s non-invasive vein procedures take place in our fully accredited on-site vascular lab. IAC (formerly ICAVL) accreditation requires rigorous quality standards upheld by the national credentialing organization. Certified vascular technologists employ advanced imaging equipment to accurately diagnose vascular disease and vein conditions, including varicose veins, PAD (peripheral artery disease), carotid artery stenosis and AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm.) Test results are interpreted by a specially trained and Board Certified vascular surgeon who meets the rigorous standards for continuing education required for accreditation.
As an advanced, minimally invasive vein removal technique, microphlebectomy requires only tiny incisions and no stitches. Excellent cosmetic outcomes are the rule with almost-immediate recovery. Patients of Shore Vascular and Vein Center report minimal discomfort and typically are able to walk through the office immediately afterward. Recovery usually takes only a day or two. This in-office procedure is typically done with local anesthesia or light sedation.
A specialized therapy used at Shore Vascular and Vein Center for facial spider veins, VeinGogh, uses a small burst of energy pulsed directly into the veins, collapsing and fading them. The procedure is also excellent for spider veins on other body areas. After the 15-minute spider vein treatment, veins fade over time, although facial veins may start to disappear immediately. VeinGogh typically causes only mild discomfort, minor bruising or skin redness, which fades along with the veins. Each patient is unique with specific procedural instructions and details provided by the medical team.
The Excel V system uses a unique high-power green laser to precisely treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, vascular lesions and skin discoloration. The laser light is absorbed by abnormal blood vessels in the skin, which heats and eliminates the vessels, ultimately restoring normal skin tone and color.
Excel V incorporates the latest innovations in cooling technologies enabling the doctor to deliver higher doses directly to the affected lesion with less pain than traditional laser systems.
